If you have used joy cons, you can expect the same amount of mobility as them with the Backbone controller). The D-Pad is pretty decent, there is a ball in the middle which means you can't press down on all of the buttons. To get this out of the way, I am not a fighting or rpg gamer so I can't fully say if this controller is perfect for it. Everything about the controller including its flaws seem intentional.
